A new addition to the Lance Armstrong Bikeway will connect downtown, East Austin and the Lady Bird Lake hike-and-bike trail.

The Austin City Council on Thursday approved about $610,000 to complete the easternmost section of the Lance Armstrong Bikeway. The total cost of the bikeway is estimated at $3.2 million , which includes grant and bond money.

Austin is thinking about adding a bike-share program, which would start with 30 stations and 300 bikes.
