Mack Brown’s assistant football coaches at Texas are receiving a total of about $300,000 in extra salary from their 2011 salaries, according to figures received today by the American-Statesman from the university.

Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman, whose Aggies started the season ranked  in the nation’s top 10 but ended up going 6-6 with a series of second-half  collapses, was fired Thursday night.
Sources have told the American-Statesman that A&M will target University  of Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin — a former A&M assistant — and  Louisville head coach Charlie Strong, among others, as potential  replacements.

Was it the last Hex Rally?

If you ask Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds, he would say no.

Nonetheless, there are no guarantees now that Texas A&M is moving to the SEC. So fans will enjoy this Thanksgiving tradition that dates back more than 100 years.

Many deep and important traditions animate the 117-year-old game  between the Aggies and the Longhorns, first played in 1894. One of the oldest rivalries in college football, between schools 100 miles apart,  has become so embedded in the soul, culture and identity of Texas that  families happily plan holiday festivities around those four quarters at  Royal-Memorial Stadium or Kyle Field.
Sunday’s Aggie Supper might have been  the Last Aggie Supper.
