The Emmett Shelton Bridge, which goes over Red Bud Isle to Lake Austin Boulevard, is considered “functionally obsolete,” according to officials. The Austin City Council gave initial approval to ask voters in November for $3 million to design a replacement bridge, as part of a $385 million bond package.
